We spoke to outdoor photographer Takehisa Goto about taking photographs in the mountains and by rivers.
We will also introduce some of the fantastical photos taken by Goto.
We also had them try out T-shirts and socks from the outdoor line, Il Rollo, in the harsh conditions of the filming location.

- "I understand that a lot of your filming takes place outdoors, but please tell us more about the activities you do."
- *
- "I'm a photographer who works outdoors and on location, and I mainly take photos for outdoor magazines and web media."
- *
- "Outdoor photographers often take photos outdoors, but how is that different from general photography?"
- *
- "The difference is that rather than taking a well-crafted photograph in a stable shooting environment, it's about how to take advantage of the situation and light at the time. Also, in my case, I don't go to such harsh environments, but I do climb mountains with my equipment and camping gear, so I think that's different."
- *
- "What kind of photos do you take from your work bring you joy and a sense of accomplishment?"
- *
- "In outdoor environments, the lighting conditions change from moment to moment, but when I shoot with the idea in mind of 'I think I can take a good photo with this lighting and location,' sometimes the photo turns out better than I expected, and I feel great when that happens."
Photos taken by Goto. People look attractive in the mountains and plateaus.

- "I saw your Instagram, and the photos you take have a variety of styles, but the ones I like the most are the ones with the soft green of the trees and the blue of the sky, and the fantastical atmosphere like something from a movie or a picture book."
"What kind of photos are you good at taking, and do you have any techniques? " - *
- "I'm good at, or rather I like, taking photos in outdoor environments with people in them. It may be a little different from technique, but one simple thing you can do to take a good photo is to think about it before you take it, and also after you have taken it. "
- *
- "The photos of the rabbits that you took are so cute! I also have a rabbit. Do you have one too?"
- *
- "Sometimes I take the rabbit and the dog outside for a walk. My wife loves animals in general, including rabbits, so that's what influenced us to start keeping animals. She says that one day she wants to own a horse, so I hope I can help her achieve that (laughs)."

- Returning to the topic of work, what concerns do you have about clothing and socks for work and activities in the mountains?
- *
- "It's about a certain level of comfort and design. The weather can be cold or hot, so it's nice to have something that's comfortable to wear. Also, because the environment is somewhat restricted, unlike in the city, if the design is nice, I think you'll want to wear it again and again."
- *
- "What kind of locations and environments do outdoor shoots take place in?"
- *
- "For my regular shoots, I don't go to very difficult places, so I often go to campsites or mountains that aren't too high in altitude. I've shot in a variety of environments, including on a sea kayak, in a river while immersed in water, on a motorbike or horse, and on snowy mountains."
In June, he wore an Il Rollo T-shirt and socks during a photo shoot at Tonodake.
- *
- "It seems like the shoot was done in a very difficult environment. Please tell us how it felt wearing Il Roro's T-shirts and socks under such circumstances. First of all, how comfortable was the "NIKKE AXIO WOOL T" T-shirt ?"
- *
- "Maybe because it was hot that day, I was soaked with sweat that it was as if I had been doused in water. What I liked about it was how light it felt to wear and how light it was to move around in. There was almost no distinctive smell that you would normally associate with 100% wool."
We had them wear Il Roro T-shirts in a very sweaty environment.
- *
- "Was there anything else that concerned you?"
- *
- "Once I started wearing it and started to sweat, it didn't bother me, but maybe because I have sensitive skin, it did feel a bit prickly when it dried."
- *
- "You may feel that way because it is made of natural Meriwool. We hope to improve this in the future. I think we have managed to reduce the unpleasant feeling of the shirt sticking to your skin when you sweat. What do you think?"
- *
- "That's right! It didn't feel like it was sticking to my skin at all, so I didn't feel any discomfort when moving around."
- *
- "What did you think of the PEAKHUNT WOOL SOCKS ?"
- *
- "When I first put them on, I felt that they were easy to slip on. They didn't trap heat as easily as the thick wool socks I had been wearing. Also, because they have cushioning, my toes used to hurt when going downhill, but now I don't feel as much pain."
"The ankle length is just right, not too short or too long, and the design is stylish, so it seems like it would be easy to wear in mountain huts. However, when I took them off at the summit, there was some pilling, so I'd like to continue wearing them to see how durable they are."
Thank you for your honest feedback.
